Over two thousand pupils from kindergartens, primary and middle schools will give life to the "Peace March" in Bra on Thursday 16 May 2019. Wearing white T-shirts and symbols of peace, children and young people will meet at 9 in Piazza XX Settembre from where they will depart in procession through the streets of the center (Corso Garibaldi - Piazza Caduti - Via Moffa di Lisio - Via Vittorio - va Cavour - Piazza Carlo Alberto - via Umberto - Via Monte Grappa) until reaching piazza Giolitti.
Here, around 10,30, the final part of the event will be held, which includes the presentation of the "Dado della pace", an installation by the students and teachers who, during a two-year active citizenship project, worked on themes of peace, of sharing collaboration. The "Dado della pace", which will be "explained" by the young people who collaborated in its realization, will be exhibited for some time in Piazza Giolitti before its final location in the gardens of Piazza Roma.
For the whole week, meanwhile, the Children's Book Fair will take place (the program includes the Peace March), in the unprecedented location of the “Arpino multipurpose center”, a real cultural and “book” center in the city. The market exhibition with over 11 thousand titles for children and young people will be open every day from 9 to 20 (Saturday late closing at 23), while many workshops (by reservation) and activities are scheduled, many of which on the theme of travel, leitmotif of this edition. Three meetings with the authors are also scheduled in the library, designed for lower and upper secondary schools but open to all interested public: on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, from 10 to 12, concurrently with these activities, the loan, consultation of books and periodicals and study room service. Here is a summary of the program of the main events of each day.
Monday 13 May, at 15.30 pm at the Civic Library (via Guala, 45) the inauguration of the twentieth edition of the Children's Book Fair will be held and the delivery of the national prize "Beppe Manassero" dedicated to the figure of the magister vitae. The “Amblimblè” choir of the “Franco Gioetti” primary school performed by Maestro Nino Cornaglia.
Meeting canceled Tuesday 14 May, at 10.30 the library welcomes the meeting with the author of “Diary of a positive odyssey” and “Travel school”, Davide Urso.
Wednesday 15 May, at 10,30, in the library, meeting with the journalist Darwin Pastorin, author of “Now hug me… Brazil!”. At 15,30 pm, again in the library, there is the ceremony for the delivery of the “Giovanni Arpino” Prize for literature for children, awarded by the municipal council for children.
On Thursday 16 May, the peace march is held in the morning, while the choir of the Giolitti-Gandino high school will perform at 21 pm at the Politeama “Boglione” theater.
On Friday 17 May, at 10,30, in the library, Veronica Mungai presents her book “In the same footprint” for lower middle schools. At the same time (and in rerun at 14,30 pm) at the Politeama Boglione the show “Nonno Mimmo and the broken fairy tales) is staged. At 18 pm in Palazzo Mathis Govanna Santagati and Maura Boccato, author and illustrator, present their volume of poems "Passi. Percorsi tra parole e le images" (Reservation required at 339 6304723).
On Saturday 18 May, at 10 in the library, the reading aloud competition for students begins: the initiative will end in the afternoon, around 16, with the awarding of the "Caterina Brero Arpino Award", dedicated to the widow of writer and journalist of Braidian origins, who passed away in 2018. From 10 the Festa delle Famiglie also begins with Ludobus, use workshops, meetings and markets. On Saturday morning there will be an animated reading of Bibliobebè: "Fairy Lia and her big book" (at 10,30 for children from 9 to 36 months). At 15,30 pm, the traveling fairy tale “Traveling with the Little Prince” starts from the library and a snack on arrival. At 16 pm (and in repetition at 18.30 pm) the Politeama hosts the final shows of the “Open School” project, “AAA There is talent in the city” and “Departure at 15 pm: Weaving at the campsite”.
Sunday 19 May, from 10 to 19 you will play with the Ludobus in Largo della Resistenza. Appointment with Bibliobebè in the library "The tree of hearts", at 10.30. At 16.30 pm there is the final concert of the Salone by the “Piumati” secondary school orchestra and the primary choir.
During the week of the Children's Book Fair, the “Graphically” exhibition of the “Velso Mucci” professional institute can be visited at the multipurpose center, from 9 to 20; “L'Erbario di Elide” (by the students of the “Giolitti-Gandino” high school) and the permanent exhibition of Romano Reviglio's paintings at Palazzo Mathis (open from 9 to 13 and from 14,30 to 18). The civic museums are also open, with free admission: the “Craveri” of Natural History, Palazzo Traversa (archeology, history and art) and the Toy Museum. Reservations at 0172 430185.
