The elderly are among the most at risk for Coronavirus: this is why the recommendation not to leave the house is particularly necessary for them. It is important that in this phase of restriction of physical contacts, however, the relationship life with the respective families continues, by telephone and through the tools made available by technology.
So that even the elderly who live alone and lack family support do not lack the necessary human support, the Municipality of Bra has activated the initiative "I call you at home". A network of volunteers coordinated by the Town Hall will contact people reported or requesting the service, updating them on the latest developments and news, trying to clarify doubts, making sure of any needs and, why not, having a chat to make people feel closeness.
To request the service, created in collaboration with local voluntary associations, the telephone number 366.9393836 was set up, already active for the delivery of groceries and medicines to the home of over 70s. You can call on Monday, Wednesday or Friday morning from 8.30 to 12.30, or on Thursday afternoon from 13 to 18.
“In this emergency, we asked ourselves how to help make elderly people who do not have family support feel less alone and more informed - explains Mayor Gianni Fogliato -. If physical contact is to be avoided, phone calls are certainly allowed: it is an invitation that we extend to children, grandchildren and young people, a sign of closeness to those who most need care and reassurance ".
